ENHANCED MINERAL RENDER FOR MANUAL APPLICATION
OF SPTTED TEXTURE
FOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL USE
AGGREGATE SIZES:
UP TO 1.5 mm – AVAL KT 137- 15
UP TO 2 mm – AVAL KT 137- 20
UP TO 3 mm – AVAL KT 137- 30
| AVAL KT 137 is thin-layer mineral render designed for manual preparation of internal and external plaster coatings. It can be used on all even and structurally sound mineral substrates such as concrete, traditional cement plasters, cement plasters, plasterboard panels and reinforced layers in the following composite wall External Wall Insulation systems: ATLAS, ATLAS STOPTER K-10, ATLAS STOPTER, ATLAS HOTER and ATLAS ROKER W-20. |
| AVAL KT 137 is based on white cement, lime, and quartz and marble aggregate of the following sizes: up to 1.5 mm – KT 137- 15; up to 2 mm – KT 137- 20 and up to 3 mm – AVAL KT 137- 30. AVAL KT 137 is efficient, convenient and easy to use. When dry, it forms a hydrophobic layer permeable for water vapour characterised by high resistance to weather, washing, etc. It is hard-wearing owing to the content of special micro-fibres additionally strengthening render structure. AVAL KT 137 mineral renders are available in 41 colours shown in the AVAL COLOUR PALETTE. |

| The substrate should be stable, even and structurally sound i.e. strong enough; it should be free from anything that may weaken adhesion, in particular dust, dirt, lime, oil, fat, wax, remains of emulsion and oil paint. Remove existing paint and render coats of insufficient adhesion. Afterwards, prime the substrate using AVAL KT 17. Fill irregularities and defects in using e.g. AVAL KM 41 levelling mortar, AVAL KT 111 plastering mix or AVAL KT 29 finishing mortar. In each case, before application of AVAL KT 137, cover the substrate with AVAL KT 16 render primer. |
| In order to prepare the render, pour the whole content of the bag into a container with measured amount of water ( 5.0÷6.0 l for 25 kg bag) and mix mechanically until homogenous. The mortar is ready to use after ca. 10 minutes and remixing; during this time, it is possible to adjust its consistency appropriately to application conditions. It maintains its properties for ca. 1.5 hours. Mix the mortar during work in order to maintain homogenous consistency. |
| Apply AVAL KT 137 over prepared substrate as a layer using a float made of stainless steel. Thickness of the layer should correspond with the aggregate grain size. Remove excess of material, place it in the bucket and mix. Form the texture of the surface, using a float made of plastic, with circular moves then you obtain spotted texture. Open time (between mass application and floating) depends on substrate absorption, ambient temperature and mortar consistency. Experimentally (for a given type of substrate and given weather) determine the maximum area that can be prepared in one technological cycle (application and floating). Apply the mix using the “wet on wet” method, preventing one batch from drying before application of another one. Otherwise the “seams” will be visible. Plan technological gaps in advance e.g. in corners or building angles, under rainwater pipes, etc. Protect the plastered surface during work and when it dries from direct sunlight, wind and precipitation. Drying time depends on the substrate, temperature and relative humidity of air and is from ca. 12 to 48 hours. Substrate and ambient temperature during work and when render dries should be from +5°C to +25°C. Paint the plastered surface using façade paints (e.g. AVAL KT 54, AVAL KT 48, AVAL KT 45 and AVAL KT 44). Painting can commence 2÷6 weeks after plastering is completed (depending on paint type and colour). Only in case of AVAL KT 54 silicate paint, it can begin after the render dries, not earlier, however, than after 48 hours. Note: to avoid differences in colour shades in case of colour mineral renders, apply render of the same production date on the same surface. The information comprises basic instructions of product application and do not relieve users of responsibility for work in accordance with good construction practice and OHS regulations. |

On average,
ca. 3 kg of AVAL KT 137-20 is sufficient for 1 m2
ca. 4 kg of AVAL KT 137-30 is sufficient for 1 m2
The exact amount of mix to be used can be determined in a test conducted on the plastered substrate. |

| Drill with mixer or smooth floats (made of steel or plastic). Wash the tools with clean water directly after use. Clean the remainder of the set mortar that is difficult to remove with AVAL KL 55 washing agent. |
